Why do people go to vrindavan

For safety, some deities had even been hidden. People gradually lost awareness of places like Radha Kunda and other places now visited by several thousand people annually.

When He visited Vrindavan, the famous Six Goswamis were not yet there, but they arrived later with the mission to locate the forgotten pastime places as directed by Him. The essence of Vrindavan was lost over time until the 16th century, when it was rediscovered by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. A distinguished promoter for the Vaishnav school of Bhakti Yoga, Chaitanya propagated the worship of Shri Krishna, popularized the chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra as well as composed the eight devotional prayers in Sanskrit named Siksastakam.

Chaitanya is said to have spent last 24 years in Puri. During November , temples, ashrams and various religious organizations in Vrindavan held activities functions focusing on the life and contribution of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

A souvenir highlighting Radha Tatwa defined by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was released on the occasion. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was of the view that Radha and Krishna are inseparable. He also advised his disciples to find out the places where Radha and Krishna played sport.

He is famous as the Vrajacharya or the authority on Vrindavan, for he not only rediscovered many forgotten places but also established the standard route of the Vraja-Mandala-Parikrama, the path on which Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu had walked. On Karttika Purnima, the full-moon day of that holy month, Chaitanya reached Vrindavan and began to visit its twelve sacred forests.

Later, six Goswamis, saints and theologians owing allegiance to Him carried over the mission indebted to several persons for the inputs. It is believed that once the doors are opened in the morning, the bed looks as if someone has slept in it, whereas the water in jar is also looked consumed and so does the Pan and the Neem Datun.

There have been incidents that even the premises of Nidhivan is vacated in the evening, some have gone a bit far and decided to remain hidden to watch the mysterious Ras Leela. Unfortunately, those who have attempted such a thing have lost their sight, speech or even worse mental soundness. The trees found in Nidhivan are of different kind. These trees are mostly short in height and have entangled trunks. Even the plants of Tulsi found in the premises are in pair.

The believers say that these trees convert to Gopis in the night and participate in the Ras Leela. As soon as the dawn breaks, they again change into trees. It is also said that no one has been able to successfully take home the parts of the Tulsi plants here. Those who even attempted faced severe consequences. Although the houses built in the vicinity of Nidhivan have access to the view of the area but no one dares to attempt to do so.

One of the most important temples is the Govinda Deo, built in Vrindavan is also known as the City for Widows because of the thousands of widows who seek refuge there. By Hindu tradition, widows may not remarry but should devote their remaining years to spiritual liberation.

Some widows leave their families after the death of their husbands or their families leave them and make their way to the holy city of Vrindavan. In exchange for singing sacred hymns known as bhajans in the temples these women are given meals and a little money.
